The Sword

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, dressed in fine linen, [dazzling] white and clean, followed Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword (His word) with which He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He will tread the winepress of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty [in judgment of the rebellious world].

Revelation 19:13-15 AMP

When we see our King Jesus in the final book of the Bible, we see Him with the only weapon that He needed to be the Victorious King that He is. It was the Word coming out of His mouth (Revelation 19:15). Interesting, isn’t it, that He has given us that same mighty weapon and we hardly even give it a glance and make little or no effort to learn how to use it.

Yes, we talk about spiritual warfare and about putting on the whole Armor of God, but how is that working for us? We are still struggling with minor demons that are wreaking havoc in our lives instead of effectively using our authority and our weapons to put them under our feet. And all the while we should be casting down strongholds and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Christ!!!

We are ill-prepared because we have very little knowledge of the Truth–the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17).

And take the helmet of salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Ephesians 6:17

Chapter 6 of Ephesians clearly spells out the Armor of God and the reasons and purpose for its use. We are admonished to be strong in the Lord and to draw our strength from Him.

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. Ephesians 6:10 AMP

We must use the power of His boundless might. Why? Because we are not fighting against people so our natural weapons are not effective.

For though we walk in the flesh [as mortal men], we are not carrying on our [spiritual] warfare according to the flesh and using the weapons of man. 2 Corinthians 10:3

Why do we insist on using our puny, worthless weapons in a warfare in which we were created to win every time if we use the weapons we have been given?

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

2 Corinthians 10:4

And how can we forget the Truth so beautifully painted for us in Romans 8 that we are more than conquerors because of Jesus’ love for us? None of the weapons Satan uses against us will work once we become fully persuaded of the Truth!

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37

The Christian life is a life of warfare. As soldiers in the Army of our Great God, our mission is to defeat the forces of the enemy. The Truth that we don’t often realize is that the enemy has already been defeated and the weapons we have will put him and keep him under our feet. We have to just know the Word!!! We say it all the time, but do we really know it?

“No weapon that is formed against you will succeed and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you will condemn. This [peace, righteousness, security, and triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from Me,” says the Lord. Isaiah 54:17 AMP

So how do we condemn and triumph over those that rise up against us? We must do that with the knowledge of the Truth that we speak.  We use the same weapon that our Lord used– the Word that comes out of our mouths.

We will never be able to defeat anything if we don’t know and have an intimate relationship with the Word of God. Jesus is the Word of God, y’all!!!

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. Revelation 19:13

So as we study the Word and learn of Him (the whole Bible is about Him) our minds become transformed so that we think like He thinks and act like He acts. And this is what the Apostle Paul begs us to do:

Be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. Romans 12:2 AMP

We have to learn how to use this mighty Sword that will not only defeat the enemy, but will transform and prepare us to be just like Jesus–Victorious!!!

  1. God give us all the weapons to defeat the enemy. Now is the time for the body of Christ to understand the armor and use it to defeat the devil.
